The incident took place around 1:40 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, near Exit 5 in Danbury when the SUV merged into the right lane and hit the front driver’s side of a 2010 Honda Civic, state police said.
The crash caused the Honda to swerve right and strike a metal beam guide rail before veering left and colliding into a center median concrete barrier, state police said.
According to police, the SUV failed to stop.
The driver of the Honda, a 55-year-old Poughkeepsie, New York man was not injured, but his car had to be towed from the scene.
Police said a witness described the hit-and-run vehicle as being a white or silver SUV.
